All fashion addicts are asking THE question: what to wear in winter? Fortunately, we're on it and we're telling you a little more about the style you need to adopt to be right on trend for Autumn-Winter 2018-2019.
For you ladies…
This winter is all about cocooning, the Autumn-Winter 2018-2019 fashion trends are quite clear: stay warm, layer up, and wrap yourself up. But most importantly, stay stylish.
We're wearing winter jeans and daring to mix floral prints with graphics, which are gradually making us forget stripes. Opt for the Suncoo floral print shirt or the beautiful graphic print shirt from the same brand.
English embroidery is also making its way into our winter wardrobe. Wear this beautiful IKKS women's white shirt to brighten up winter...
Fleece jacket, jacquard print sweater or boyfriend shirt, we're drawing from the men's wardrobe for boyish and stylish looks.
We're adopting XXL volumes to further succumb to the oversized fashion trend.
…and you gentlemen
The cold has set in... and isn't going away anytime soon. So how to dress this winter?
The winter wardrobe is a deluge of natural, comfortable materials and layered pieces. It also allows for more stylistic experimentation, as we wear more clothes.
We'll go back over the main principle of building a winter look, before focusing on each piece that composes it. Without forgetting the selection of brands.
Tie your scarves, here we go...
THE BASE LAYER
This is your underwear: t-shirt and undergarments.
If you don't plan on doing any physical activity, cotton can do the trick to keep you warm close to your body and wick away moderate moisture, like this striped t-shirt from Petrol Industries.
THE INSULATING LAYER
This is the layer that traps air, a natural insulator.
- a cotton garment can once again do the trick if you are not likely to sweat, such as the Hackett men's sweater.
- a wool or cashmere piece traps air between the stitches and in the wool fiber itself. That's much better! Be ready for winter with a lambswool sweater or cashmere...
THE WINDPROOF AND/OR WATERPROOF LAYER
This is the layer that finishes the job! But don't rely on it to protect you all by itself: you need to combine the 3 layers.
This layer doesn't even need to be thick if the intermediate layer traps enough air. Any windproof and waterproof garment will then do the job if it's breathable enough:
- dense wool fabric
- Parka
- Puffer jacket
You know everything you need to face winter!
