You may have noticed it when discovering our new arrivals: linen is everywhere this summer! This eco-friendly material is used alone or blended with cotton to create trendy and comfortable pieces. How do you care for it? How do you incorporate it into your wardrobe? We'll tell you all about linen!
Linen, an eco-friendly fiber
Cultivated for centuries, linen is one of the most ecological materials currently available. Linen cultivation is mainly located in Western Europe, particularly in Normandy.
Linen cultivation requires no irrigation. It is a plant that knows how to use all the natural resources of the soil and requires no chemical treatment.
Linen, a strong and durable material
Choosing a linen garment means opting for a piece that will last over time. Linen is indeed one of the most resistant materials that exists. Linen does not deform or pill: perfect for those who like to keep their clothes for more than one season!
Linen also offers incomparable softness, making it a very pleasant material to wear. Its lightness is particularly appreciated during the summer season.
The thermoregulatory properties of linen
This is also one of linen's great assets. This living and natural material is interesting to wear in both summer and winter. Linen indeed provides coolness in summer and warmth in winter.

Coolness in summer thanks to linen
Linen is a "living" material that contains pectins. These pectins can absorb or release water (up to 20% of their weight!) depending on climatic conditions. This is why we feel cool even in hot weather.
-
A good insulator for winter
Since linen is a hollow fiber, it traps air, making it a good insulator. To stay warm during the winter season, don't hesitate to slip a linen t-shirt under your sweater or sweatshirt.

Thanks to its longevity, linen is an ideal material for good basics in your wardrobe.
For men, we recommend opting for linen shirts that you can wear both in summer and winter. Linen V-neck or crew neck t-shirts are also good basics to have in your wardrobe.
For women, linen is worn not only in tops (blouses, t-shirts, shirts...) but also in casual chic dresses, pants, and skirts. Here too, these are often good wardrobe staples that never go out of style.
How to care for your linen clothes?
Have you fallen for a linen piece? It's important to care for it properly to keep it and wear it for many years.
-
Washing linen
This ecological material requires delicate and regular cleaning. Before its very first machine wash, it is recommended to soak your linen garment in a basin of water and white vinegar (25cl). This helps to soften the fiber and set the color.
If you want to machine wash your linen, do not wash at more than 40°. Also, opt for a mild detergent, so as not to damage the fiber. The best way to wash your linen clothes is still by hand.
- Drying linen
Linen must absolutely be air-dried! So, forget your tumble dryer, otherwise you risk damaging the fiber permanently. Hang your clothes on a hanger to achieve that perfectly controlled crumpled effect typical of linen.
-
Ironing linen
Linen doesn't necessarily need to be ironed, but if you don't like the overly crumpled effect, it's a good idea. Only iron your linen clothes inside out. You should also dampen your linen fabric before ironing it.
