The polo and the wrap dress: 2 iconic trendy pieces this spring-summer 2021!

Le polo et la robe portefeuille : 2 pièces iconiques tendances ce printemps-été 2021 !
2 pièces iconiques tendances au Printemps-Eté 2021 (1)

Fashion is a perpetual cycle. There are timeless pieces that are regularly on-trend. This is particularly true for men's polo shirts and wrap dresses. Two iconic pieces that can be found in our new Spring-Summer 2021 collection

So today we wanted to introduce these two iconic pieces in a little more detail.

The polo shirt, the casual chic sportswear top

The polo shirt is more casual than a shirt but just as chic. Inspired by the world of sport, it's a timeless piece and an excellent basic to have in your wardrobe.

The history of the polo shirt

The origins of the polo shirt are quite vague, but one thing is certain: it's a garment linked to the world of sport. It was first recorded in the 19th century in India, where British army soldiers played polo. They wore a thick shirt. Its collar was buttoned to avoid hindering them during sport. This new type of shirt was then called a "polo shirt".

The modern polo shirt, as we know it today, was invented for tennis players in the 1920s. It was the French tennis player Jean René Lacoste who designed it.

How to wear a polo shirt?

The ultimate casual chic piece, the polo shirt can be styled as sportswear, chic, preppy, or streetwear.

For a classic casual chic look, wear it with slim jeans or fitted shorts. If you like urban looks, pair it with track pants or chino shorts.

For footwear, you can wear sneakers as well as more chic shoes, such as boat shoes.

Good to know

Over the decades, the polo shirt has become a unisex item. It can therefore be found in both men's and women's wardrobes. For women, it can be made of openwork cotton, to add a touch of romance and sexiness.

The wrap dress, an iconic haute couture dress

It's one of the trendiest dresses this Spring-Summer 2021. Short or long, the wrap dress is an excellent timeless piece to have in your wardrobe.

The history of the wrap dress

The wrap dress has been a part of women's wardrobes for almost 100 years! It was in the 1930s that Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli created a practical, easy-to-wear dress suitable for active women.

It gained its prestige in 1974 when fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg brought it back into fashion. She designed it in a wrinkle-free and comfortable fabric: silk jersey.

Since then, it has become the iconic piece of the haute couture brand. It has been reinterpreted by numerous brands, becoming a timeless piece and an excellent basic to have in your wardrobe.

How to wear the wrap dress

The advantage of the wrap dress is that it suits all body types. This iconic garment cinches the waist, enhances your décolletage, and is generally made with a fluid fabric, which is very comfortable to wear.

The wrap dress can be worn both during the day, for everyday wear, and in the evening. Depending on the style, it can be more or less chic. Opt for a plain model if you want to wear it for different occasions. You just need to accessorize it to make it more or less casual. Printed models (floral, graphic, geometric, etc.) are generally reserved for daily use, for comfortable and trendy daytime outfits.
